Polls between Obama and Romney have never been closer, tightening as Obama's approval rating drops to new lows according to recent polls. |
Depending
on the poll, President Obama's approval ratings are now back in the high 30s
and low 40s. The reason: Americans thought more positively of Obama as the job
market showed phony but media-hyped and convincing signs of recovery. While the
"real" unemployment rate didn't move much at all, the actual
unemployment rate went down. Now that it is back to not moving and gas prices
are surging, Americans are sick and tired of putting faith in the future, with
84%, a new high for the decade, now saying they think America is headed in the
wrong direction.
54%
of Americans think the President can do something about gas prices and 77% of
Americans think the president can do something about unemployment. When asked
about how they think Obama is doing, it's not pretty.
When
Bush was re-elected in 2008, he had the lowest approval rating ever recorded
prior to re-election at 49%. Obama's approval rating is about 8% lower when you
average out the polls from the five largest pollsters.
