10 Best Restaurants in Colorado Springs

Here is my list of favorite restaurants in Colorado Springs, in no particular order. While I haven’t been to plenty of places, the following list consists of the ten restaurants I would go back to. Next time your grabbing dinner off campus or looking for somewhere for your parent or parents to take you- give these yummy places a chance.

Front Range
2330 W. Colorado Avenue
With the best veggie burger in town and plenty of crowd pleasing salads and BBQ plates, Front Range is without a doubt, the best restaurant in Old Colorado City. Created by two brothers from Alabama who value local and fresh ingredients , Front Range has been the most authentic family barbeque restaurant in Colorado Springs for nearly thirteen years.

Yoo Mae
21 E. Kiowa Street
There is a reason Yoo Mae is better ranked than Fujiyama on every user review website out there. J.J, the head sushi chef, quit his job as head chef at Fujiyama after they refused to meet his demands for fresher, better quality fish. Yoo Mae, which uses fresh fish while Fujiyama offers half-off perks for their end-of-the-week, leftover sushi, is the best sushi place in Colorado Springs, hands down.

Nosh
121 S. Tejon Street
The sophisticated, intimate atmosphere will make you feel like you are dining in New York City or Chicago. And the unique and diverse menu only furthers the extravagant experience, with everything from mouth-watering Brussels sprouts to an incredibly flavorful tuna salad. Nosh cannot fail to satisfy your taste buds. Don’t miss the sweet potato fries or dressed edemame! As a tapas place, it’s on the pricy side for Colorado, but if your parents aren’t coming into town, I recommend saving up for this gem.

Dale Street Cafe
115 E. Dale Street
Avoid the overcrowded restaurants of downtown and take a quick walk to Dale street- just one block from Slocum. Dale Street Café is known for its Sunday brunch but perfect for dinner nonetheless. Located inside a beautiful house, the café offers a fireplace, sunroom and plenty of simple but tasteful and local landscape art on the walls. The food is fantastic- with classic salads and pastas worth coming back for. I recommend the spinach salad, the pizzas and the ‘gnocchi gorgonzola’.

Blue Star
1645 South Tejon Street
As the fanciest, most famous and most acclaimed restaurant in Colorado Springs, Blue Star remains the best place to convince your parent or parents to treat you to. With the same owner as Nosh, Blue Star is also known for a menu that offers a great variety of food.  With a terrific selection of delicious meats and simple things like a hummus plate and soups to die for, graduating from CC without having let Blue Star assault your parent’s wallet is simply sinful.

The Rabbit Hole
101 N. Tejon Street
Not only does The Rabbit Hole offer terrific appetizers and above average entrees, but its drink selection, especially wines, is fantastic. And best of all, the establishment is located underground! Going to The Rabbit Hole is all about the experience, an escape from the above world and a classy indulgence into one of the Springs hidden gems.

Adam’s Mountain Cafe
934 Manitou Avenue
A true trademark of the Pikes Peak region, Adam’s Mountain Café prides itself on a vegetarian, local menu. Nourishing customers since the early 80s, Adam’s Mountain Café has a menu so good, just reading it will make you hungry. Take this appetizer for instance: crostini with goat cheese, thinly sliced pear, sautéed spinach, caramelized onion, figs and candied pecans. Yum!

Phantom Canyon
2 E. Pikes Peak Avenue
CC Students have long known Phantom Canyon for its drinks. But don’t be mistaken. The food is just as good as the beer. Try the calamari, fried risotto or Caesar salad. The selection may be simple, but the food won’t disappoint.

Slayton’s
28 S. Tejon Street
This tiny Tejon street find isn’t worth missing. While the menu is designed for meat lovers, the grilled flatbread and artisan spread dish ain't to shabby. I also recommend the smoked chicken, the avocado salad, the rib sampler and the wonderfully moist and flavorful smoked brisket & black bean chili. Slayton’s does not match up against Front Range, but it’s a close second for best BBQ in the springs.

Sonterra
28 S. Tejon St
Classic Mexican food. It’s big, it’s fun, it’s Sonterra. While Sonterra is often criticized for its service and their inability to manage the huge crowds their delicious food brings, if you want a great Mexican meal, this is the place to go. The atmosphere is festive and dishes like the enchiladas and steak are impossible not to love. Even the chips and salsa are mouth watering.
